National Backload Database

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Will the service cover Continental traffic?
Absolutely, once we have built up a large membership base this will occur naturally, however, we will be targeting the European market.
Will the service be open to the public for the 'wardrobe market'?
No, in our experience it is not a haulage or Removal Company's interest to get involved in small/single items. This is a service specifically designed to help member companies help themselves. In essence it has the potential to become the largest UK/European haulage/removal network for backload purposes.
How much do you think you can save a haulage company in a year?
We have calculated £30,000 under our cost benefits section. In reality even if you only reduce your empty running by a half, it is still a huge saving as opposed to an unnecessary loss.
Can I join and pay my registration fee online?
Not at the moment. This is mainly because we have an application system that may involve the complication of refunds for unsuccessful applicants. Having said this, all processes will be reviewed regularly.
Are there any plans to include 'loose bulk' or 'tankers' to the diary filter category system?
At the moment we are of the opinion that 'loose bulk' is generally too local a market, while 'tankers' are too specialised. Again, dependent on demand, this may well change if the membership believes it to be viable.
Is the service restricted to artics?
Not at all, when entering your spare capacity in the diaries you have different optios such as: Artic, Rigid, 7.5 or Van. Additionally you enter a percentage available. For Flatbeds and Taughtliners/Curtainsiders you have 40 foot, 30 foot and 20 foot options.
How much would I get for a load that is say over a 250 mile distance?
We recommend that you sell the spare capacity at a cost rate, say 75p per mile. This would make you £175.50 but this in direct contrast to costing you this same amount for running empty.
How much do you charge for getting us a backload?
Absolutely nothing! We simply provide the information in diary form and you are able to make a direct enquiry to the company concerned with the information we provide. It is up to the companies to agree terms.
