National Backload Database
About the National Backload Database
After 30 years experience in the Transport & Removal Industries, we at the National Backload Database appreciate just how much 'empty running' costs Transport Operators. In an effort to support companies to reduce this "empty running" the owner has launched the National Backload Database web site. (More information about the NDB web site).
What is the National Backload Database?
The National Backload Database is a new and simple to use web site that is designed to assist the transport industry in using and sharing spare capacity. This means that the whole service is a win-win scenario because you reduce costly empty running and other companies get loads moved at a reduced rate. This can of course work both ways with any member company having their own spare capacity taken up or indeed utilising other member companies spare capacity.
How it works?
Once you are a member, you will have access to all the member facilities. You will be able to access other members diaries to find spare capacity or be able to advertise your spare capacity.
Members can input or search the diaries at any time, however, the more notice you give the better the chance of take up. You only include movements where you have spare capacity as a result of 'running empty' or with any spare capacity that you have available. This spare capacity should be sold to the industry at a concessionary rate that we would recommend to be a 'cost rate'
Using the diaries is easy and to ensure that members can find the spare capacity they are looking for it is filtered into the following categories:
- Boxed (vans/7.5 etc)
- Flat Bed
- Low Loader
- Curtainsided
- Refrigerated
- Container
- Removals
- Car Transporter
We think that if you run a Transport Business or Removal Company then the NBD is a must. But don't just take our word for it, read our industry endorsements.
The National Backload Database cannot be held responsible for the failing of any Consignee. In all cases the ultimate responsibility for any load lies with the Consignor. With this in mind the NBD insists that the carriage of any goods is to be in accordance with The Road Haulage Association Condition of Carriage 1998. Where the load is a Removal it is to be handled and carried in accordance with The British Association of Removers Code of Conduct (see our full terms and conditions).
